Steps towards a greater cause

The event is more of a family gathering than a competition, with participants choosing whether they want to run, jog or walk the course.

For the third consecutive year, Hell on the Hill will return to Omaha Beach Quarry Reserve on Sunday, September 13, starting at 9am.

The event will raise funds for the Cancer Society while also bringing people of all ages together through a morning of physical activity, community connection and support.

Event organiser Heidi Yap said last year’s event reached full registration capacity and raised $2000.

“It’s not about who finishes first or who completes the most laps, but about challenging yourself, supporting one another and remembering why we are there,” Yap said. “Whether you complete one lap or 20, walk alongside a friend, volunteer your time or simply come along to cheer others on, you are helping make a difference.”

The challenge consists of completing laps of approximately 400 metres, with each lap including 112 stairs at the Omaha Quarry.

Registrations are open at $25.75 for adults and $15.75 for kids.

Moderate fitness is recommended, and children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants will receive a range of benefits, including a goodie bag for adults, a free ice cream for children, a sausage sizzle, a complimentary sauna and ice bath recovery experience, and the chance to win special spot prizes.
