Mangawhai Beach School students presented an original production titled “Christmas Couch Adventures” in the school gym last week.

The 30-minute production took the audience of parents, teachers and fellow students on an adventure from Mangawhai to the North Pole.

It included various dances, songs and scenes, which were executed with remarkable efficiency.

A charismatic host, along with some of the most beloved Christmas characters – Santa, the Grinch, and several elves – made an appearance.

Sound and animation manager Jon Clist, together with the teacher and event director Martina Williams.

Arts teacher Martina Williams said the performance was particularly notable because the script was co-created by the students, who dedicated immense effort to the preparation, sometimes even giving up their lunch breaks to rehearse.

She said that additionally, many of the props and costumes were designed and made by the students themselves, demonstrating an impressive level of creativity and dedication. She also thanked her colleague Rachel Blair for her support.

Their hard work was ultimately rewarded with the thunderous applause of an audience that left thoroughly satisfied.
