Youth invited to join the flow

Matakana surf store Summer Sessions, alongside Flow88, will host a free community skate event at the Matakana Valley Road pump track on Sunday June 14, from 1pm to 3pm.

Organisers say the event is to encourage creativity, confidence and self-expression among young people through skateboarding and art. There will be creative challenges and opportunities to meet others who share a passion for skateboarding.

Flow88 founder and event organiser, Christina McGrath says she is running a lot of youth art events and trying to mix them with a bit of sport.

Flow88 is also running a youth art competition this month, inviting students to submit original artwork inspired by skate culture, movement or a coastal lifestyle.
