The Mahurangi College Living Classroom – Wetland Restoration Project is a finalist in the annual Ngā Tohu Tiaki Taiao a te Koromatua/Mayoral Conservation Awards.
The annual awards, now in their fourth year, recognise and celebrate the power of community led conservation and the outstanding work carried out by individuals and groups, despite the challenges they face.
A total of 38 nominations were received from around the region, demonstrating a high level of dedication to protecting and restoring Auckland’s unique natural environment.
Mahurangi College is a finalist in the Schools/Youth category, which recognises schools who use an authentic learning approach to enable and empower students to take conservation action in their community.
After two years of online ceremonies, the winners will be announced and celebrated at a “face to face” awards ceremony at the Maritime Museum this Tuesday, September 13.
