Point Wells Recreation Reserve, and Tāwharanui, Mahurangi West and Scandrett Regional Parks will all undergo upgrades and improvements funded by Auckland Council.
The works are part of the Regional Community Capital Investment Programme (RCCIP), which is delivering around $79 million in investment into parks and community assets across Auckland.
At the Point Wells Recreation Reserve, a new toilet facility will be built with a total budget of $450,000, including $100,000 from the RCCIP. The investigation, design and consultation phase will start later this financial year, with completion expected by mid-to-late 2028.
A portion of the $840,500 allocated for northern regional park track renewals and upgrades will be used to resurface selected walking tracks at Tāwharanui.
Mahurangi West Regional Park, which remains closed to the public following extreme weather events, has been allocated $285,000 for slip remediation and prevention works. Physical works are expected to start later this financial year.
Scandrett Regional Park will also benefit from two separate projects – $202,000 will be spent on deconstructing and rebuilding the Moonlight Sleepout, with construction expected to start this financial year; and $150,000 will be spent on refurbishing the historic homestead, including interior and exterior painting, pathway renewals, and full roof and gutter repair. Work is expected to start in the 2027/28 financial year.
