The pest-proof fence at Tawharanui Regional Park is back at peak predator prevention level, thanks to a $183,000 refurbishment by Auckland Council.
The fence renewal project was carried out following a recent condition assessment, which found several sections were critically damaged and in need of replacement.
A council spokesperson said the perimeter fence was crucial in maintaining the sanctuary’s pest-free status and keeping its native wildlife safe.
“The renewal works have now been completed and a final inspection by a pest-proof fencing specialist has confirmed that the upgraded fencing meets required standards.”
