Lawyers tussle to stop inshore sand mining

McCallum Bros are in court in their latest bid to continue taking thousands of cubic metres of sand from Pakiri and Mangawhai.

The latest stage of the battle over whether continued sand mining can be allowed off the Pakiri and Mangawhai coastline reached the Environment Court this week, with a day and a half of intensive legal horse-trading.
