An average of 20,500 to 21,000 vehicles a day are using the new Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway extension.
Waka Kotahi says this includes about 2200 heavy vehicles, which is the same as historic volumes from the existing State Highway 1 route, indicating the majority of traffic has switched to the new motorway.
“We are also seeing less congestion on SH1, particularly through Warkworth.”
