Rodney Local Board parks staff will assess the state of pony club and wheeled play provision throughout the region this financial year.
The pony club service assessment will look at the current use of space, membership numbers and facilities offered, while the wheeled play version – for bikes, skateboards and scooters – will look at what’s currently available and what condition the network is in, as well as identify areas where facilities are lacking.
Area manager for parks and community facilities Geoff Pitman told a local board workshop on August 6 that both assessments would help with longer-term planning for the Rodney parks network.
“The outcome is to end up with a service provision report, much the same as we’ve had with our playgrounds and toilets, to identify what’s currently going on, the current status and where the gaps are, and maybe some suggestions on how we can address those,” he told members.
