In partnership with the Simplicity Foundation, a new Predator Free Communities funding round is now open, offering backyard groups up to $5000 for traps and accessories.
The funding supports community-led efforts to control rats and possums in residential neighbourhoods, helping protect local wildlife.
Groups do not need to be registered charities and can be newly-formed or existing.
Eligible projects focus on suburban backyards, with limited trapping allowed in community spaces such as schools and marae.
All equipment must meet national animal welfare standards, with traps housed safely in wooden tunnels.
Applications close March 1. For eligibility criteria and further information, visit https://predatorfreenz.org/
