Auckland Council says its Local Alcohol Policy is starting to show promising results, with early data pointing to fewer alcohol-related incidents and strong compliance from businesses.
The policy came into full effect in December 2024 after almost a decade of legal challenges. It saw shorter trading hours introduced for alcohol retailers and tougher rules around where new bottle stores can open.
