Bingo win for Te Whai

Te Whai’s general manager Kiri Eriwata (middle) was grateful to accept the cheque from Lions vice president Clive Hebben and member Rowena Clare.

Social advocacy organisation Te Whai Community Trust received a welcome $2250 boost to its food bank recently, thanks to a full-house fundraising event hosted by Mangawhai Lions.

Held at Mangawhai Club on August 24, the Housie Fundraiser drew over 50 enthusiastic attendees, all eager to support Te Whai’s vital work, which includes distributing more than 400 food parcels to local individuals and families in need. With about $150 feeding a family of four, the funds raised could help an additional 15 families in the community.

In addition to ticket sales, players also donated non-perishable food items, filling six banana boxes with groceries, plus a meat pack kindly donated by Mangawhai Meats.

Mangawhai Lions thanked the generous sponsors who helped make the event possible – Plant & Pot, Meant to Be, Bob & Ben, Creative Candles, Bennetts Chocolates, North Haven Hospice, Little Soul Co, Mangawhai Butchery and Bunnings.

Mangawhai Lions is always keen to recruit new members. To learn more, contact Clive on 021 802 532 or email mangawhailions@gmail.com
