Blue September prostate cancer fundraiser is back

Blue September will see people across NZ take on challenges in an effort to raise over $1 million for prostate cancer to support the 42,000 men living with the disease, as well as their families, while also raising awareness nationwide.

Funds raised go to Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ, a small but dedicated team that offers nurse-led support, peer groups, counselling, Prost-FIT exercise, financial help, education, research and advocacy – all aimed at improving health outcomes for Kiwi men.

Each year 4000 NZ men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and over 700 die from it, making it the second-highest cause of cancer death after lung cancer. Also Maori men are 50 per cent more likely to die from prostate cancer than non-Maori men.
