Candidate chosen

Tracey-Lee Repia (Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Uenuku ki Whanganui) will be Labour’s candidate in the Kaipara ki Mahurangi seat, currently held by National’s Chris Penk.

Repia describes herself as an experienced political, governance and public sector leader with more than 20 years’ experience across Parliament, local government, iwi organisations and community organisations.

She is educated in law, education and holds a Post Graduate diploma in Māori development in business, a Master of Business Administration and a Diploma of Adult Education teaching.

She says she wants to see a New Zealand that is built on kindness towards others, social justice for all, reducing the cost of living, a strong localised circular economy and education system, environmental integrity and ensuring Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations are honoured.

The General Election will be held on November 7.
