The Hibiscus Coast Community Patrol got a funding boost last month with a donation of $5000 from the Hibiscus Coast Community House.
The funds were raised from sales through the community shop and chair Cathi Cox said they were delighted to see the money raised go towards supporting the service.
Funds raised from the community shop are channeled towards community projects, she says, as well as supporting a food bank and car seat rentals.
Hibiscus and Bays Local Board member Jake Law presented the cheque to the community patrol in his new role as patron of the Community House, a position once held by his grandmother.
“It’s an honour to be the patron, as they support a lot of the initiatives like the community patrol whose work is so important,” he said at the presentation.
HCCP Chair John Redwood said the funds would go towards administration and running costs of the vehicles, which have risen markedly in the past year. They were keen to get the vehicles out on the road 24/7 and encourage anyone who wants to volunteer to contact them.
