Ember opens Orewa office

The Rodney team members are settling into their new home.

The mental health and addiction organisation Ember Korowai Takitini has opened a Rodney Community Hub in Centreaway Road in Orewa.

The centre will offer a comprehensive range of mental health and addiction services across the Rodney community.

The service’s chief executive Darryl Bishop says that with a team of experienced and empathetic professionals embedded in the local community, Ember will provide essential support to residents on their journey towards better mental health and recovery.

“Where we can, we always want the services we deliver to be provided by people who truly understand and resonate with the community,” Bishop says.

“At Ember, we want to be as sustainable as possible and to support communities to be resilient and self-sufficient, so we always try to employ local people and operate on a serve local, work local, live local principle.

“We want to encourage more Rodney residents to join the Ember team, to build a workforce that is intimately connected with the community it serves.”

Services offered at the hub will include peer support, community support, and supported employment services, targeting people experiencing mental distress, people with addiction issues and people with intellectual disabilities.

Ember – Korowai Takitini was established through the merger of two services – Connect Supporting Recovery and Framework Trust.
