Whangaparaoa College locked down for an hour from 2.45pm on Thursday, April 14, after students reported a threat involving a firearm.
Police advised the school to lock down as a precaution. They identified the individual involved in making the threat, and the firearm was confirmed as an imitation and will be destroyed.
The young person involved has been referred to youth aid, a Police spokesperson says.
