Fashion funds Women’s Centre

A local dressmaker is set to debut her bespoke clothing line at a fashion show fundraiser to support the Women’s Centre Rodney next month.

The event marks Renata Holicova’s first foray into organising such an occasion, driven by her own experiences of a challenging upbringing where support was scarce.

“My mum didn’t get the help we desperately needed when I was growing up, so I want to support the centre to help other families who might find themselves in the same circumstances,” Renata says.

The fundraiser will specifically support the Women of Worth programme, which focuses on empowering women and girls to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.

Attendees can expect a showcase of comfortable, stylish women’s wear made from natural fabrics such as cotton and linen, designed in Europe and crafted in Warkworth.

Both Renata’s Y Not clothing and garments from Warkworth retailer 8.55 to Cairo will be on the catwalk.

The event will feature music, raffles, prizes, goodie bags, and an opportunity to purchase discounted, customisable garments. Fabric swatches will be available for guests to select their preferred colours.

Having recently moved to Warkworth, Renata says she is committed to giving back to the community, drawing from her diverse background in beauty therapy, culinary arts and dressmaking.

“This event reflects a growing interest in sustainable, bespoke fashion, as consumers become more conscious of the environmental impact of the industry and seek personalised, eco-friendly clothing options,” she says.

The Fashion Show will be he held at the Warkworth Town Hall on August 24, starting at 3pm. Tickets are $20 from Eventbrite or on the door.
