Golden year for food producers

Local food producers have once again done well in the annual Outstanding Food Producers Awards, announced on March 18. Gold medals went to Leigh-based ‘a bit dressy’ for its Chicken Bone Broth with Veggies, Superb Gazpacho Soup, Keto Spicy Thai Chicken Soup and Crazy Good Coriander Yoghurt and Lime Dressing.

Also winning gold was Mahurangi West-based Foundry Chocolate for three of its bars made with cocoa beans from Tanzania, Mexico and Vietnam; Salty River Farm for its Miner’s Lettuce and Rocket and Mixed Leaf Salads, plus two for Charlies for its Jaffa Gelato and its Whipped Feta.

A bit dressy, Foundry, Charlies and ready-made pizza producer Perfectly Imperfect also scored a raft of silver medals in the national awards.
