The good folk at Good Bitches Baking delivered two huge batches of home-baked biscuits, cakes and slices to Wellsford’s Loaves & Fishes Foodbank during the past fortnight to help give families in need a few festive treats.
Foodbank chair Karen Lennon said the donation was massive, literally – nearly 26kg of goodies, all up – and would go into food parcels in the run-up to Christmas.
In addition, the foodbank’s Christmas Treat funding crisis (MM, Nov 24) prompted several generous donations, including one from the Rodney Health Charitable Trust, meaning that 60 treat boxes will now be distributed.
Lennon said she wanted to say “a huge, huge thank you” to the community for their donations and to raffle supporters in the lead up to the holiday season.
