Gumboot cars rally for Gumboot Friday

A total of 55 cars from privately owned fire trucks to Minis travelled in convoy from Auckland to Wellsford to raise money for Gumboot Friday.

The three-hour-long Gumboot Rally Charity Run, held on Sunday, November 6, ended at The Wade Hotel in Silverdale.

Mike Geater, who grew up in Whangaparāoa, but now lives in Taranaki, is one of the organisers and says it is always a fun event to be part of.

It is held annually for various charities, but this is the first time that the I Am Hope mental health charity’s Gumboot Friday has benefitted.

“I’ve been doing it nine years and this year we finally chose a charity with just the right name!” Mike says.

A total of $6000 was raised from entry fees and donations.
