Women’s Health Week, Te Wiki Hauora Wāhine, is an annual campaign to break down any stigma around women’s health and celebrate the physical and mental wellbeing of wāhine across Aotearoa.
Running from August 11 to 17, the week highlights health information, personal stories, and practical advice to help women take care of their bodies and minds. Although the campaign was only officially launched in 2024, it has quickly gained traction as a platform to promote awareness, encourage regular health checks, and connect women with resources and support.
The initiative was established by healthcare provider Tend Health and is now supported by a growing number of health professionals and organisations nationwide.
Tend Health founder and co-Chief executive Cecilia Robinson says New Zealand women often put the needs of others before their own, carrying a heavy load while caring for whānau. “Too many women deprioritise their own health. A recent survey of female-identifying patients showed 57 percent do not attend regular annual check-ups,” she says.
