It was a bootload of pyjamas outside Unichem Pharmacy Manly as owner Tania Adams loaded up 300 pairs of pyjamas collected during its annual winter drive for the Jammies for June appeal run by the Middlemore Foundation in support of the Kids First Hospital.
The PJs will be given to children at Kidz First and the 76 primary schools the Foundation supports through the Mana Kidz School Health programme.
Tania says her pharmacy has been doing this since 2019, when they first collected PJs as as part of the Unichem group charity initiatives. Since then, Tania and her team has set up a big box in the pharmacy and the local community has been “ridiculously generous”, she says.
This year’s drive was boosted by students from Rangitoto College.
“Each year, they have a project which they make money from, and this year they chose to spend the money from the project on Jammies for June and bought 97 pairs,” she says.
It’s great to offload the boxes at Kidz First, meet their team and know the PJs are going to help a child.”
