Missing boy found
A 12-year-old boy who was reported missing in Maungatūroto on May 24 was found. A police spokesperson said the boy was located safe and well at 8pm the same night and was taken home to his family. Due to his young age, no further details are available.
Critical injuries after crash
A person was airlifted to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Baldrock Road, Kaiwaka. Hato Hone St John responded to the crash on May 21 with two ambulances, a rapid response unit, an operations manager and an air ambulance helicopter. A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one patient was flown to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition, while a second patient suffered minor injuries. A section of SH1 was closed for a period of time while the Serious Crash Unit carried out investigations. A police spokesperson said the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
Exclusive estate sold
One of Northland’s most exclusive coastal estates has reportedly sold for more than $40 million. Bayleys Real Estate confirmed the sale of the Andersons Cove property at 101 Bream Tail Rd, between Mangawhai and Langs Beach. The 48-hectare beachfront estate sold less than a month after hitting the market and before the offer deadline. Previously owned by late Kiwi entrepreneur David Nathan and his wife Pamela, the property includes multiple luxury residences, landscaped grounds, native bush and direct beach access. The final sale price has not yet been officially released.
Kaiwaka Market on the move
The Kaiwaka Market has found a new home. After two years of hosting the market at St John Hall, Kaiwaka, it will now be held at 3 Furlongs Bar and Grill. Market organisers say it will still feature the same stalls, crafts, food, goodies and community vibes, just in a different location. The Kaiwaka Market is held every second Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
