Kauri-inspired artwork

Nineteen artworks crafted from a single piece of kauri are on display at The Kauri Museum, in Matakohe, until September 30.

Museum exhibits coordinator Mary Stevens said the contributing artists were invited to use their imagination to create any type of work. The result was furniture, sculpture, jewellery, musical instruments and decorative pieces. “It’s a mixed bag that will appeal to a range of tastes,” she says.

The Creating With Kauri exhibition is free during museum hours, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
