Warkworth librarian Rachael Jamieson has been recognised as one of two Emerging Talent winners at the April 2026 Te Pou CEO Awards, celebrating her outstanding contributions to community wellbeing and library services.
The Te Pou Awards honour Auckland Council kaimahi/employees who exemplify the organisation’s core values of achievement, collaboration, development and service.
Jamieson was acknowledged for consistently going above and beyond in her role, particularly through her work on the Embed & Improve and Digital Together projects.
Her efforts have played a key role in enhancing Auckland Libraries’ integrated service model, which allows residents to access library resources and council services in one convenient location.
She was also recognised for her training initiatives aimed at boosting staff confidence and improving customer service across library sites.
Jamieson started her library career in 2017 as a part-time assistant while raising young children. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Library and Information Studies, graduating last year, before stepping into a full-time librarian role at Warkworth Library this year.
“I’ve always loved libraries – they were my happy place growing up,” Jamieson said. “Now I get to help others find that same connection.”
Her innovative approach led to the development of resources that help library staff guide customers through online council services, particularly benefiting those in more remote communities. This work has improved access to essential services while giving people the confidence to navigate digital tools independently.
Despite the recognition, Jamieson remains modest.
