Mum starts safe school shuttle for Coast kids

Stanmore Bay mother of two, Chazelle Raubenheimer, knows the daily struggle of school drop-offs all too well, you just can’t be in two places at once.

For children who are old enough to start school but not quite ready to travel on the bus with older students, she’s found a solution. Her new service, Kids Shuttle NZ, is a locally run, fully Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency-approved school transport service that offers safe, reliable trips between school and home.

Each ride is driven either by Raubenheimer or another local parent who is NZTA P-endorsed, First Aid trained, and operates under a full Transport Service Licence.

The service began by helping KingsWay School families, she says, but it is now expanding to include other Hibiscus Coast schools, with more vetted parent drivers joining under Raubenheimer’s licence.

She says she created the service to fill a gap for families juggling work, school and after-school commitments.

Chazelle says that for many younger children who thrive on structure and consistency, knowing who will pick them up can matter more than people might think. Simple things like making eye contact, asking about their day, knowing each child by name, and keeping parents informed is the difference that Raubenheimer and her team hope to make.

“It’s more than transport for kids – it’s that mother’s touch. I care for every child as if they were my own,” she says.
