A new bus service for Milldale was launched on November 20.
The 989 bus service will connect Milldale with the Hibiscus Coast Station. It will run seven days a week, every 30 minutes from 6am until 7.30pm.
The service will be run by Bayes Coachlines who are confident they have enough drivers in their local team to run the service to the timetable.
Rodney Local Board’s deputy chair Louise Johnston has welcomed the news.
“Milldale is growing fast and for residents, of all ages, being able to catch a bus directly to the Hibiscus Coast Station at Silverdale will be brilliant,” she says.
Auckland Transport’s principal service network planner Dave Hilson says the current nationwide driver shortage isn’t being felt across every bus operator in the same way.
“Bayes has enough drivers for this new service and this service will enable residents’ easy access to Hibiscus Coast bus station. From here, a range of connections are possible including the Silverdale shopping centre, Ōrewa, Whangaparāoa, North Shore and the City Centre.
“AT will look to expand the bus services in the area as it grows.”
Customers will need an AT HOP card to pay their fare – the nearest AT HOP retailer is Silverdale Pak ‘n Save.
