Showtime for Kowhai Singers with musical favourites

London’s West End is coming to Warkworth and the bright lights of Broadway will shine on Leigh next month, when Kowhai Singers perform a new concert celebrating the best tunes from hit musicals across the years.

‘It’s Showtime!’ promises to be a sparkling night of song and stage magic, packed with classics from the golden age of musical theatre right through to modern classics.

Musical director and conductor Ken Leech says audiences can look forward to a programme of timeless hits that have lit up stages the world over.

“From the heartfelt drama of Les Misérables and the whimsical charm of Oliver! to the haunting melodies of Cats and the romance of Aspects of Love, this concert is a musical theatre lover’s dream,” he says.

As no Broadway celebration would be complete without the unforgettable works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Kowhai Singers will also bring to life the soaring melodies and heartfelt lyrics from beloved classics such as The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, Carousel and South Pacific.

“We promise a night of toe-tapping, tear-jerking and tune-humming delight,” Leech says.

“Whether you’re a die-hard musical fan or simply love a great night out, this is a concert not to be missed.”

As well as the mass of musical hits, there will be cash raffles at each venue.

There are two performances of ‘It’s Showtime’ – the first is at Leigh Community Hall on Sunday, August 3 at 4pm and the second is at the Warkworth Town Hall on the following Sunday, August 10, also at 4pm.
