Teams of pink-clad volunteers will be hitting local streets this coming Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18, for the annual Pink Ribbon collection for breast cancer.
They will be shaking buckets in and around Snells Beach and Warkworth on Friday, and at Snells Beach Four Square and Matakana Markets on Saturday morning.
Leading the volunteer pack once again will be Pink Ribbon legend and indefatigable fundraiser Shona Pickup, who has been organising annual Breast Cancer Foundation collections locally for the past 15 years.
She says the street collection is always worthwhile and locals are unfailingly generous.
“You rarely get a no, because unfortunately cancer affects everybody,” she says.
People who want to donate but don’t have cash can scan a QR code on collection buckets.
Anyone who would like to volunteer to help on the day can contact Shona on 027 485 5514.
