Students from Wellsford School were the first to perform on a brand-new stage recently built at Wellsford Community Gardens on Friday, December 12.
The young singers are all regular visitors to the gardens, where they get hands-on education about how to grow food and flowers, as well as learning catchy songs penned by resident Head Gardener and pro- musician Andrew McLennan.
He said afterwards the students played all their greatest hits, including I Love Worms, Wetas are from Outer Space and My Piggy Bank Don’t Love Me.
The new stage is the latest in a series of initiatives started at the gardens by McLennan, who has been slowly bringing the community facility back to life over the past three years.
