“Peter is a dedicated trapper who spends many hours in Kowhai Park and around the river in the village catching pests. Park users are now seeing native seedlings emerging, trees recovering from possum and rat damage, and improving bird numbers. He has serviced the Kowhai Park trapline for three-plus years and prevented over 500 pests from breeding and further devastating the environment. We call him Passionate Peter because he races to check every trap at the mere hint of a catch.”
