Two free community events will be held in Warkworth to support Neurodiversity Celebration Week, from March 16 to 20.
Parenting neurodivergent tamariki and rangatahi is being held at the Bridgehouse on March 19, from 6pm to 7.30pm, with a presentation and Q&A panel.
Then on March 20, from 3.30pm to 9pm, Celebrating our Rich Worlds is at the Masonic Hall with a community picnic on the grass, workshops and a night market.
Organiser Michelle Michaud said the idea was to promote awareness, knowledge and community understanding of neurodivergence.
“It goes beyond normalising stereotypes around neurodivergence,” she says. “It’s about celebrating the awesome array of strengths and qualities of neurodivergent people.
“I’m excited for a week when everyone can come together, celebrate neurodivergence and promote the wonderfully inclusive ways we are already contributing in Rodney.”
