A new edition of a free one-stop guide to getting older and all it entails has been published by the Eldernet group.
The upper North Island edition of Where From Here – He Ara Whakamua is designed to help older people and their whānau navigate the ageing journey with impartial information.
The 185-page guide includes up-to-date listings of all care homes and retirement villages from Auckland to the Far North, as well as information on how they operate and how to choose the best option.
There is also a directory of home support providers, plus social, kaumatua and day programmes.
The guide provides comprehensive information on virtually every other aspect of living for older people, from pensions, finance and avoiding scams to coping with grief, staying healthy, understanding technology and dealing with ageism.
Eldernet was set up in 1997, making it one of the country’s earliest websites, to provide information to empower older Kiwis to make the best decisions for themselves.
As well as its Where From Here guides, Eldernet offers a range of online directories and information services.
The new upper North Island edition of Where From Here – He Ara Whakamua is being distributed by libraries and healthcare providers, but can also be accessed online or mailed out to individuals.
