An art competition for college-age students is being run as part of this year’s Kowhai Festival, with prizes worth more than $500.

There are three age categories – Years 7 to 9, Years 10 and 11, and Years 12 and 13 – and the theme is the Hidden Beauty of the Mahurangi area.

Entries will be displayed and the winner announced at the old Masonic Hall in Baxter Street, Warkworth during the Kowhai Festival on Saturday, October 18.

Entry is free and all artworks must be completed and submitted by Thursday, October 2.

The competition is being supported by Rodney Youth Project, Rodney Local Board and Sculptureum.
