ACPL finalises deal for Link Crescent site

Commercial and residential development company McConnell Property is expected to sign a deal with Auckland Council Property (ACPL) this week, for the development of 20 Link Crescent in Whangaparaoa.

The development will deliver a minimum of 50 houses, and an area has been set aside for a family centre and a landscaped reserve incorporating a wetland feature.

More than 38 parties initially expressed interest in developing the land.

McConnell was one of six companies that submitted formal Expressions of Interest. The company has been involved in land development throughout New Zealand for more than 50 years. Current projects include Titanium Park, a 75-hectare business park at Hamilton Airport, and Point Ridge, a 188-home development at Albany Heights.

They were also involved as development manager for Kawarau Village, in Queenstown, and Trinity Apartments in Parnell.

McConnell expects to be on site early next year, with construction to begin soon after, subject to resource consents.

The Link Crescent site was earmarked for development by the former Rodney District Council, which zoned it Residential High Intensity, and this process was moved forward last year by ACPL, despite objections from neighbouring residents and councillors.
