
Hibiscus Coast’s junior athletes continue to shine on the national stages, delivering winning performances across several disciplines.
Ōrewa College swimmers competed at the New Zealand Division II Swimming Championships at AUT Millennium late last month, setting the stage for the National Age Group Championships this month.
Murray Barnes (14) claimed gold in the Gold 50m fly, Gold 4×50 mixed medley relay, Bronze 4×50 free relay and Bronze 4×100 free relay.
Nina Rice (15) dominated the pool with four gold medals in the 100m breaststroke, 4x50m freestyle relay, 4x50m free mixed relay, 4×50 medley relay, as well as two silvers in the 4x100m freestyle relay and 50m breaststroke.
Seamus Avery (13) also showcased his talent, securing four golds in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 100m breaststroke.

Whangaparāoa College athlete Sacha-Fu Oughton (13) represented North Harbour at the North Island championships at the start of this month and finished first in the junior girls hammer throw. Her 48.27m throw broke the North Island record by four metres. She also finished sixth in the discus with a 29.27 metre throw.
