Hundreds of families, veterans, emergency services personnel and community members gathered under bright sunshine at ceremonies across the Hibiscus Coast to pay their respects this Anzac Day.
Well-attended services were held at a number of sites including the Hibiscus Coast Community RSA, Ōrewa Remembrance Reserve, Silverdale War Memorial, and Upper Waiwera Cenotaph.
The services were supported by members of the defence and police forces, clergy, Hibiscus and Bays Sea Cadets, and students from schools across the Coast, as well as veterans from a number of conflicts.
This Anzac Day is the first to take place since Parliament enacted the Anzac Day Amendment Act 2026 to expand the ranks of those commemorated, which formally recognises all New Zealanders who have served in wars, warlike conflicts, peacekeeping, and humanitarian operations
