Former Conservative Party leader Colin Craig is in the process of purchasing the land at 85–89 Brightside Rd in Stanmore Bay, behind Whangaparaoa New World.
The site was previously to be developed by Rick Martin, who abandoned the project saying that obtaining resource consent requirements for the apartments he planned to build there had become too onerous.
Last month Mr Craig confirmed that he is negotiating purchase of the site, with a conditional contract in place. He says until he takes ownership, it’s too early to say what will happen with the site but that it is more likely to be developed than land banked.
Mr Craig, who is director of Centurion Management Services, says it will be his first property development, but that his company has more than 20 years’ experience consulting on large projects as well as completing smaller ones on its own behalf.
