Residents still have time to help shape the future of Manly Park’s playground, with the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board proposing a major renewal of the popular play space.
The upgrade is part of the local board’s 2026/2027 work programme and would see the existing playground equipment, safety surfacing, edging and drainage renewed, while creating a more accessible and inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities.
Under the proposal, the playground would also be improved to meet current safety and accessibility standards.
The local board is seeking community feedback on the types of play activities and equipment people would like included in the new playground. Public consultation closes on May 25, 2026.
Options being considered include climbing and jumping activities, spinning and rocking equipment, music play features, nature play elements, and hanging or flying activities such as bars and zip lines.
Residents are also being asked to share their preferred colour scheme for the playground.
Feedback can be provided through an online form, by emailing completed forms to Auckland Council, or by posting them to the council’s consultation team.
Following consultation, the project team will use community feedback to develop a concept plan between June and September 2026, which will then be presented to the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board for approval.
Preparation for construction is expected to take place between October and November 2026, with construction scheduled from January to March 2027.
