Fiesta with artistic flavour

Creativity and cuisine come together at the Ōrewa Boulevard Arts Fiesta, which will be held this weekend, on Saturday, February 17.

The festivities will take over the Boulevard, with the main road closed at 9am for set up, and the event open from 11am-5pm.

Organiser Destination Ōrewa Beach says there will be more than 150 market stalls, children’s rides (vertical bungy, rock climbing and water rollers) and entertainment on a stage, featuring mainly local bands.

Estuary Arts Centre has put together some ‘have a go’ art activities and artists will also be selling their work.

Give it a go sessions include tie dye (bring along a t-shirt), pop up cards and print-making.

Lunchtime, drinks and snacks are taken care of, with more than 25 food trucks of street food from around the world, including plant-based and gluten-free options.

Organisers ask that people do not bring dogs to the event, because it will be crowded and hot. As parking will be at a premium, locals are encouraged to walk, cycle or take public transport to the event, rather than drive.
