Auckland Council has been criticised for negligence of the old Wilson Cement Works in Warkworth after one of its giant chimneys collapsed late last month.
The Cement Works Warkworth Conservation Trust, whose members have been lobbying for the historic site to be better maintained for more than six years, said the 12-metre tall chimney had been targeted repeatedly by vandals before strong winds finally sent the structure crashing.
