Big achievement for Horizon at AIMS

Snells Beach Horizon School had its largest-ever delegation at the AIMS Games, with 22 students taking part in the event in Tauranga.

While the netball team had participated previously, the mixed Year 7-8 hockey team made its debut this year, recording one draw and two wins and finishing 55th overall.

Sports co-ordinator Rachel Phelps said both teams showed determination, resilience and a fantastic attitude throughout the tournament. “Many of our students achieved personal bests and should be proud of the way they challenged themselves against some of New Zealand’s strongest teams,” she said.

A special mention goes to Year 8 student Grace Piclisan-Perrin, who was selected by the coaches and managers as the overall recipient of the Netball Sportsmanship Medal for the tournament.
