Mahurangi College has responded with military-like efficiency to the Level 3 announcement thanks, in part, to the swift action of Covid-responder Keith Tennant who is an ex-infantry soldier.
Emails went out to parents and teachers last night asking them not to come to school and teachers have already been asked to prepare for e-learning from next week.
Mr Tennant says there will be no online learning over the next three days to allow teachers to put together their e-lessons in case the lockdown is extended for two to three weeks.
The college has set up ‘bubble classrooms’ and a skeleton staff for a small number of children of essential workers.
Children of essential workers over the age of 14 are still asked to stay home.
A small number of parents who had not heard there was a lockdown turned up at school 8.45am.
One Warkworth man the Mahurangi Matters spoke to, who asked not to be named, thought Rodney was part of Northland and, therefore, was not part of the lockdown.
The college was due to host its open day today but it has now been postponed.
The office is open until midday.
