A ‘Masters’ Golf competition has raised $15,000, which will go towards helping Kawau Coastguard buy a new boat.
The event was held at the Omaha Golf Club last month.
Coastguard president Paul Steinkamp says it was a very successful afternoon and evening. Fifteen teams played in the nine-hole ambrose competition, followed by a dinner and charity auction attended by more than 100 people.
“Kawau Coastguard is very grateful for the support from the whole community, with a special mention to the nine main sponsors – NZ Bed Company, Warkworth Collison Repairs, Surtees, Dynamic Pipeworks, Pontoonz, New World Warkworth, A-Jet, Matakana ITM and Oceanbridge – and the numerous smaller donors,” Steinkamp said.
Kawau Coastguard’s current boat, the 10.3-metre Naiad ‘Kawau Rescue’, is 15 years’ old and replacing it will cost somewhere between $1 and $1.5 million. All going well, Kawau hopes to have a new boat in service next year.
