The Leigh Bowling Club continues to operate over the winter period, even though the green is closed and there is no bowling taking place.
Recently the green was bored and a working bee was held to spread new soil over the surface to fill the holes – the working bee was well attended by volunteers so a big thanks to all those who took part.
The club’s AGM was held on Sunday, June 15 during which the following people were elected to the executive committee for the 2025-26 season: President – Keith Greenwood, Senior vice president – Willie Sellar, Junior vice president – Scott Wilson, Secretary – Ian Bradnam, Treasurer – Robert McLean. Also elected to the committee were Lance Michell, Peter Manuell, Amy Weller, John Brooks, Arthur Gundy and Keith Brush.
Subscriptions are now due for the 2025-26 season as follows: Full playing and full non-playing members – $100, First and second-year players – $45, casual members – $30.
The prizegiving for the 2024-25 season will be held at the club on Saturday, August 16 at 2pm. Those attending need to bring a plate for a shared afternoon tea – all are welcome.
House and bar manager Amy Weller opens the club bar on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4pm. Everyone is welcome.
As well as the bar being open, there is the pool table and dart board available for use.
The club draw continues on Wednesday nights, with raffles on Wednesday and Friday nights. There are five draws each night with meat and seafood prizes. Once again – all are welcome.
