Long drive golfers Grieg Mooney and local Nola Kloppers made their mark when the Warkworth Golf Club hosted the Xtreme Drivers League (XDL) on Sunday, October 5, the first-ever Auckland Regional Championship for the XDL enterprise.
A total of 32 competitors battled it out across Masters, Seniors and Open divisions for both women and men, showcasing incredible talent and driving power.
Mooney, who is a member of the National Long Blacks team, claimed the overall long drive title with a stunning 310m drive. Warkworth Golf Club member Nola Kloppers topped the master women’s division.
Logan Caldwell and Anthony Koers also delivered stand-out performances.
The event featured the exciting ‘Make The Lake’ $1000 prize, sponsored by Bridgehouse Lodge.
Despite valiant efforts, the 380m target remained untouched due to a westerly headwind and soft ground conditions.
A club spokesperson said the event drew strong local support, with business sponsorships and a great turnout of spectators, all impressed by the sheer skill and power on display.
