Music restores hall

A Variety Concert held in Wellsford last month raised $250 for the Warkworth Wellsford Hospice. Locals pooled their talents to provide an entertaining night’s programme of music, dance and comedy.

At the final Warkworth Music concert of the year last month, president Beverley Wicks presented the Warkworth Town Hall Restoration Committee with a cheque for $12,000, which was accepted by Illona Rodgers.

The music society pledged $5000 to the hall restoration project at the start of the year and this amount was boosted by a fundraising concert held in May, which raised a further $7000. The final concert in the 2015 programme was Buddhist Rain, which included poetry readings by Bill Manhire. It was held in the Old Masonic Hall.
