Plinth unveiled

An oak plinth that started life at the Warkworth Town Hall officially returned to its home on October 12. The day marked 100 years since the Battle of Passchendaele – the worst day in New Zealand’s military history. Seven men from the Warkworth area were killed on that day. The service at the hall included speeches from RSA president John Stephen and secretary manager Robbie Blair. Rodney Councillor Greg Sayers unveiled the plinth. Mahurangi College head boy Zane Illingworth laid the wreath.
