Cinderella would have felt right at home in Puhoi on April 6 when the Giant Puhoi Pumpkin Competition was held at the Puhoi Pub.
“It was a fantastic day that everyone enjoyed,” organiser Lance Pedersen said. “There were 28 entries and next year, we will look at including a few more categories.” The winner was Neil Stevenson who won with his Atlantic Giant weighing in at 72kgs.
Pedersen said the current NZ record for an Atlantic Giant was 840kg so that was a challenge Puhoi would be up to beat. “It might take 10 years, but that’s what we’re chasing!”
